Rain and Snow Forecast in Western Nepal Under Western Wind Influence

Meteorologists have predicted rain in western Nepal and snow in high hill and mountainous areas today due to the influence of western winds.

Moderate rainfall is expected from the Far-Western region to Gandaki, while light rain is projected in some areas of Bagmati and Koshi provinces.

According to David Dhakal, a meteorologist at the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, clouds will start moving in from western Nepal from Friday afternoon (Magh 9). Light rain is expected in some parts of the Far-Western region by evening.

He further noted that moderate rainfall with thunder may occur in some areas of Lumbini, Karnali, Far-Western provinces, and a few parts of Gandaki province. There is also a possibility of hail in one or two locations in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Far-Western provinces.

Tonight, moderate snow is expected in some high hill and mountainous areas across the country.

Compared to Friday, the weather will slightly improve on Saturday, but the impact of clouds will still be noticeable nationwide, and temperatures are expected to drop. Meteorologists have advised extra care for health.

Rain and snow may also affect daily life, tourism, health, and air and road transportation, so caution is recommended.

This is the first major snowfall of the Magh season this year. Agricultural experts say that rain and snow after a long dry period will benefit crops.
