Stakeholders Stress Strict Enforcement of Election Code of Conduct Ahead of Falgun 21 Polls

With the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21, the Election Commission and other stakeholders have emphasized the need for strict implementation of the election code of conduct.

Speaking at an interaction program in Dhangadhi on Tuesday focused on the effective enforcement of the election code and the role of stakeholders, participants underscored that violations of the code must be met with firm legal action.

Election Commissioner Dr. Janaki Kumari Tuladhar stated that the Election Commission is actively working to ensure the polls are conducted in a peaceful, free, and fear-free environment. She noted that there is a provision for filing complaints in cases of activities that violate the code of conduct, and confirmed that legal action will be taken if violations are proven.

She further emphasized that conducting elections is not solely the responsibility of the Election Commission, but a shared duty of political parties, candidates, media outlets, and citizens.

Similarly, Hira Sarki, Minister for Internal Affairs and Law of Sudurpaschim Province, stated that a peaceful, fair, and credible election is not possible without strict enforcement of the election code of conduct. He urged the Election Commission, political parties, candidates, journalists, and civil society to fully comply with the code.
