Ranju Darshana Gives Birth While Campaigning for Election

Ranju Darshana, the candidate of Rastriya Swatantra Party (Raswapa) for Kathmandu-1, gave birth to a son on Tuesday morning while actively campaigning for the upcoming elections. Both mother and baby are reported to be in good health, according to Ramesh Paudel.

Ranju was actively participating in door-to-door campaigning even during her eighth month of pregnancy. Initially, she had considered running as a proportional representation candidate due to her pregnancy but chose to contest the direct election to challenge social perceptions and demonstrate women’s leadership capabilities.

She stated, “Even when pregnant, women should not give up their work and responsibilities. Motherhood and leadership can advance together.”

Her family and party provided strong support throughout her campaign, with her husband ensuring her well-being and comfort. Public response has been overwhelmingly positive, boosting her morale and determination.

Ranju is competing directly against candidates from the Nepali Congress, UML, NCP, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party in Kathmandu-1. She is actively preparing for voters to cast their ballots on Falgun 21. Her campaign stands as a powerful example that motherhood and political leadership can coexist.
