Turkish Airlines Flight from Kathmandu to Istanbul Diverted to Kolkata Due to Technical Issue

A Turkish Airlines aircraft flying from Kathmandu to Istanbul was diverted to Kolkata, India, after a technical issue was detected mid-flight. Flight TK-727, which departed Tribhuvan International Airport at 1:29 pm local time, reported a fire indication in its right engine while gaining altitude, prompting an emergency decision by the crew.

According to airport authorities, when the aircraft was about four miles west of Kathmandu, the crew informed Kathmandu Approach Control about the engine fire indication. After holding in the air for some time, the aircraft was diverted toward Kolkata.

The Tribhuvan International Airport office confirmed that the plane landed safely at Kolkata Airport at 3:03 pm Nepal time. There were 225 passengers and 11 crew members on board, totaling 236 people. The Airport Search and Rescue Coordination Center stated in a press release that all passengers and crew members are completely safe.
