Gokul Baskota’s Question: “Will RSP Abolish Federalism or Not?”

Gokul Baskota has challenged the Rastriya Swatantra Party to clearly state its position on federalism and constitutional amendments.
Through social media, he noted that RSP had earlier talked about abolishing federalism and questioned whether the party now supports constitutional amendments or not. He suggested that if amendments are made, Nepal’s system could be restructured into only federal and local levels.
Baskota also proposed several institutional changes, including making the Vice President the Chair of the National Assembly and removing the District Coordination Committee (DCC) system, arguing that federal structures should be reorganized.
He further suggested a 105-member fully inclusive National Assembly with equal 50–50 representation of men and women. For the House of Representatives, he proposed removing the proportional representation system and ensuring 40–60 gender representation through direct elections.
