Govt moves to curb double benefits for former high officials

The government led by Prime Minister Balendra Shah has initiated steps to control the practice of former high-ranking officials receiving duplicate or excessive benefits from the state treasury.
The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers Nepal has directed the Ministry of Home Affairs Nepal to immediately provide detailed information on vehicles being used by former top officials.
The move comes after a recent study found that some former officials were using more vehicles than allowed by law or receiving benefits from multiple agencies. Details have been sought regarding facilities taken by former presidents, vice presidents, prime ministers, chief justices, speakers, and National Assembly chairs.
According to government officials, the initiative aims to prevent misuse of public funds, enhance transparency, and promote good governance. The government plans to reclaim vehicles and streamline the system based on the data received from the Home Ministry.
