U.S.–Iran Nuclear Talks to Be Held in Oman

Nuclear talks between the United States and Iran are being held today (Friday) in Oman. According to the BBC, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has already arrived in Oman for the discussions. He is scheduled to meet U.S. envoys in Muscat, the capital of Oman.

U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly warned that military action could be taken if Iran fails to reach a new agreement to limit its nuclear program. Iran has stated that it is willing to hold talks on the nuclear issue, but has taken a firm stance against any agreement that would require restrictions on its missile program.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that President Trump is closely monitoring the talks to see whether a deal with Iranian officials can be reached.
