Prime Minister Initiates Efforts to Resolve Health Insurance Issues

Prime Minister Sushila Karki has started efforts to address the ongoing problems in the health insurance sector.
According to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, she convened a meeting this afternoon at the Prime Minister’s Office to discuss the matter with concerned stakeholders.
Hospitals across various parts of the country had recently decided to suspend services as the Health Insurance Board had not released payments due for health insurance claims. Health service providers have stated that it has become difficult to continue services without timely insurance payments.
The Health Insurance Board has reported that more than NPR 10 billion is still pending for payment to registered health institutions nationwide.
