Squatters to Be Shifted to Nagarjun Apartments After Holding Centers

Squatters removed from various settlements in Kathmandu will first be placed in temporary holding centers before being relocated to apartments in Nagarjun.

According to Nabin Manandhar, spokesperson of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, temporary holding centers will be set up initially to identify genuine squatters.

Only after proper identification will they be shifted to the apartments in Nagarjun, with coordination being handled by the District Administration Office.

These apartments were constructed during the tenure of former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, but had not been put into use until now.

Following the government’s directive to vacate settlements by Saturday and Sunday, some residents have begun moving their belongings, while others continue to protest.

The government has stated that long-term management will be carried out only after identifying the actual number of genuine squatters.
