US Transfers 22 Cuban Migrants to Guantanamo Bay for Deportation

Washington, — The United States has transferred 22 Cuban migrants to its naval base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, marking the first such deportations since January, The New York Times reported Tuesday.
The men arrived at the base on Sunday via a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) air charter from Louisiana. Sources familiar with the matter said the transfer resumes a Trump-era deportation operation at the base, which had been paused for approximately two months.
The Department of Homeland Security declined to provide details on whether or how the men would be returned to Cuban authorities.
ICE has previously held around 730 men at the Guantanamo Bay base, mostly from Latin American countries, according to the report.
The move is part of broader U.S. immigration enforcement measures targeting migrants designated for deportation.
