Acting Chief Election Commissioner Says Voting Ongoing Peacefully Across Nepal

Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari has said that voting is continuing peacefully and enthusiastically across the country.

Speaking to journalists after casting his vote, Bhandari stated that voting is taking place in all 77 districts with active participation from the general public.

“Voting started in an organized and enthusiastic manner from 7:00 AM. Voter turnout and the overall security situation are very good,” he said, adding that each voter can complete the voting process within one to two minutes after receiving the ballot paper.

He also urged voters, political parties, and candidates to continue supporting a peaceful and orderly voting process.

According to him, vote counting will begin immediately after the ballot boxes are collected once voting concludes. He further clarified that the Election Commission Nepal aims to announce the results of the first-past-the-post (direct) election within 24 hours after counting begins.

Bhandari also expressed optimism about voter participation, stating that more than 65 percent voter turnout is expected, especially considering the enthusiastic participation of young voters.
