Call to Resume Operations of Hetauda Cement Industry

There have been growing calls to bring the financially struggling Hetauda Cement Industry back into regular operation. With the government preparing to revive sick industries, efforts have intensified to run this factory at full capacity.

Member of Parliament Prakash Gautam has been holding discussions with both the federal government and the Bagmati Province government to resolve the industry’s problems. According to him, the factory can be revived if political interference, weak management, and internal issues are addressed.

According to the industry administration, the factory has operated only for a limited time in the current fiscal year. Production is once again at risk of halting due to shortages of raw materials and coal, while unpaid dues have also disrupted coal supply.

Additionally, electricity dues of around Rs. 300–400 million remain unpaid. Despite halted production, employee salaries and other expenses continue to rise, further worsening the financial condition of the industry.

Established in 1976 (2033 BS), the factory’s equipment has become outdated, reducing production capacity. There is hope that with improved management and adequate resources, the industry can resume operations.
