Rastriya Swatantra Party to Revise Proportional Representation List: Ravi Lamichhane

Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairperson Ravi Lamichhane has announced that the party will revise the proportional representation (PR) candidate list submitted to the Election Commission.

Speaking about criticism over including family members and influential figures in the submitted list, Lamichhane said the party does not need to carry a single unnecessary person and will correct the PR list accordingly.

“All legitimate complaints will be addressed,” he said. “We do not need to include anyone extra, so we will revise the proportional list.”

Lamichhane added that the Election Commission has two more days to make corrections, and the party is preparing to remove some names from the list. “We plan to remove a few names; taking out 10 names from a 110-person list will not make a big difference,” he noted.

He emphasized that political representation should reflect all professions and sectors, saying the PR system aims to ensure inclusive representation in the House of Representatives.

On another note, Lamichhane clarified that the recent agreement with Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah and Energy Minister Kulman Ghising was not a division of power but a distribution of responsibilities. He said that while one point of the seven-point agreement might appear as power-sharing, the rest should be studied carefully.

“Responsibilities were allocated based on national needs and citizens’ aspirations, not through political horse-trading,” Lamichhane said. “Following our agreement, there has been great enthusiasm in Nepal, and citizens have celebrated it.”
