US Naval Blockade on Iranian Ports Disrupts Global Trade

A maritime blockade of Iranian ports announced by Donald Trump has caused significant disruption to global trade and transportation from its very first day. The move, implemented after the failed peace talks in Islamabad, has sharply reduced ship movement through the Strait of Hormuz.
Previously, more than 130 ships passed through the route daily, but within the first 24 hours of the blockade, maritime traffic dropped significantly. According to the United States Central Command, no commercial vessel was able to breach the blockade, and some ships were turned back.
However, a few tankers believed to be linked to Iran reportedly managed to pass through. The Panama-flagged tanker Peace Gulf is said to be heading toward the United Arab Emirates, while the Chinese-owned vessel Rich Starry became the first ship to leave the Gulf region after the blockade began.
China has strongly criticized the move, warning that it could escalate regional tensions. Humanitarian aid ships, however, are expected to be exempt from the blockade.
