Wildfires Damage Hundreds of Hectares of Forest Land in Jumla

Wildfires caused significant damage to forest areas in Jumla District during the last fiscal year, destroying about 330.28 hectares of forest land.

According to the Division Forest Office Jumla, wildfires were reported in 29 different locations across the district during that period.In the first eight months of the current fiscal year, fires have already broken out in six locations, destroying around 100 hectares of forest area.

The office also announced that a public awareness campaign will be conducted from Chaitra 1 to 7 to help control forest fires.

Officials said controlling wildfires is difficult in remote areas, as fire engines cannot easily reach such locations. They emphasized that community participation is crucial for forest protection and wildfire prevention.
