Former Minister Mahabir Pun Receives ‘Triangle’ Election Symbol in Myagdi

Myagdi, Magh 9 — Former minister Mahabir Pun, who has filed his candidacy for the House of Representatives election from Myagdi, has been allotted the triangle (tribhuj) as his election symbol.
Pun visited the Office of the Chief Returning Officer on Friday and selected the triangle from the list of symbols made available by the Election Commission. Following the selection, the office officially issued the election symbol to him.
The Election Commission has categorized certain symbols as unusable, while candidates are allowed to choose from the approved list of available symbols.
For the House of Representatives election scheduled on Falgun 21, a total of 3,387 candidates have filed nominations under the first-past-the-post system nationwide. Among them, 1,188 candidates (34.069 percent) are independents, while the remaining 2,299 candidates represent various political parties.
According to the Election Commission, candidate registration was completed on Magh 6. Friday has been designated for the distribution of election symbols to independent candidates, while party-affiliated candidates will use their respective party symbols.
