Election Commission Asks Surendra Bhandari for Clarification

Kathmandu — The Election Commission has sought clarification from Surendra Bhandari, senior advocate and candidate of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party from Kathmandu-4 constituency.
Bhandari is under scrutiny for allegedly making derogatory remarks targeting sexual and gender minorities, which violates Article 4 (Ka) of the Election Code of Conduct, 2082.
In its notice, the Commission reminded that propaganda that harms the dignity or sentiment of senior citizens, women, sexual and gender minorities, or persons with disabilities is prohibited. Bhandari has been instructed to submit a clear response within three days of receiving the notice.
