Former Congress President Deuba Files Petition Against Election Commission Decision

Kathmandu — Former Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court challenging the Election Commission’s recent decision. On Sunday morning, Deuba, accompanied by former acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka and other party leaders, submitted the petition at the apex court.
The Supreme Court has officially registered the writ petition. Deuba is listed as the petitioner, while the Election Commission, Congress President Gagan Thapa, Vice President Bishwprakash Sharma, and the central working committee elected through the party’s special convention have been named as respondents.
Last Friday, the Election Commission had recognized the working committee led by Gagan Kumar Thapa, elected from the special convention, as the official party leadership.
Deuba’s camp has indicated that they plan to pursue both legal and political avenues in response to this decision.
