Flights on Pokhara–Jomsom Route Suspended During Winter Due to Low Tourist Arrivals

Pokhara, — Private airlines have suspended flights on the Pokhara–Jomsom route for several months amid a sharp decline in tourist arrivals in Mustang during the winter season.
Summit Airlines and Tara Air announced the suspension of services, citing adverse weather conditions, the risk of snowfall, and reduced passenger demand, according to Deepak Pokharel, Chief of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) Jomsom Office. Both airlines typically operate regular flights on the route.
Chartered and emergency helicopter services, however, continue to operate.
Tara Air’s Mustang station in-charge, Suchan Lalchan, confirmed that flights between Pokhara and Jomsom have been suspended from December 4 to March 4, while Summit Airlines reported that its services have already been halted for the past two months.
Strong winter winds in Mustang often disrupt flight operations, and improved road connectivity along the Beni–Jomsom–Korala route has further reduced the number of air passengers during the off-season.
