Government ready to provide possible support to Ncell, says Minister Kharel

kathmandu, – Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagadish Kharel, has inspected the Nakkhu-based Ncell Office today.
Ncell Chaipreson Satish Lal Acharya and Chief Executive Officer Michael Foley welcomed Minister Kharel and briefed him about the losses caused during the Gen Z protest.
The Ncell has been providing its service from Nakkhu-based office after its central office located at Lainchaur was vandalized, looted and torched during the Gen Z protests on September 8 and 9.
On the occasion, Minister Kharel shared, “I am very happy to know that the Ncell is introducing a pack targeting the Gen Zs. They have shared a plan on the issue of increasing access of telecom at the Sagarmatha (Everest) Base Camp and some remote areas.”
Stating that the Ncell had to bear a huge loss of property during the Gen Z protest, he opined that the government was ready to provide possible support to the telecom company.
“There are some policy-level problems as well as some disputes. The government, however, is confident that all problems should be resolved lawfully,” he argued.
Similarly, Chief Executive Officer Foley mentioned that Nepal’s telecom service was not of international standard, expressing the view that the government should facilitate in advancing telecom services in the country through policy-level facilitation.
