Preparations Intensify for New Government Led by Rastriya Swatantra Party

Preparations are intensifying for the formation of a new government under the leadership of the Rastriya Swatantra Party. The incoming government is expected to recommend convening a parliamentary session.

Since the current government has not yet recommended the session to the President, it is almost certain that the new government will initiate the process.

Having secured a majority of 182 seats in the House of Representatives (Nepal) elections, the party is moving forward with plans to form a government under senior leader Balen Shah. According to the schedule, he will take the oath as Prime Minister on Chait 13, and other cabinet members are also expected to be sworn in the same day.

As per the constitution, the Council of Ministers (Nepal) recommends the parliamentary session, which is then formally called by President Ramchandra Paudel. Therefore, the first Cabinet meeting of the new government is likely to recommend convening the session.

Earlier, the newly elected MPs will take their oath on Chait 12, administered by senior-most member Arjun Narsingh KC, who will himself be sworn in by the President on Chait 11.

The party aims to form a small and effective cabinet, planning a 16 to 18-member Council of Ministers, although the constitution allows up to 25 members including the Prime Minister.
