Government Issues Alert After Measles Cases Reported in Dhorpatan, Baglung

The government has urged caution after measles cases were reported in several wards of Dhorpatan Municipality, Baglung. According to the Child Health and Immunization Division under the Department of Health Services, patients have been identified in wards 7, 8, and 9 of the municipality.
The division warned that measles is highly contagious and can spread rapidly in the community. A single infected person can potentially transmit the disease to up to 18 people, prompting health authorities to ask everyone to take special precautions.
Symptoms of measles include high fever, red rashes on the body, cough, red eyes, and cold-like symptoms. The division urged anyone showing these symptoms to immediately visit the nearest health facility.
Health workers have recommended preventive measures such as:
Avoiding close contact with infected individuals
Covering the nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing
Staying away from crowded areas
Wearing masks
They also emphasized the importance of timely testing and treatment, warning that hiding symptoms or delaying treatment can lead to further spread of the infection.
The division stated that it is closely monitoring the situation and urged the community to remain vigilant and follow health guidelines.
