Nepal Police Rolls Out Special Security Plan for Upcoming Parliamentary Elections

The Nepal Police has launched a nationwide special security plan to ensure the upcoming House of Representatives election is conducted in a clean, fair, and fraud-free environment. The Police Headquarters has developed an integrated security strategy, which has been effectively implemented at the provincial, district, and local levels.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dan Bahadur Karki has instructed subordinate units to execute election duties according to government directives, strengthening preparations through regular coordination, monitoring, and briefings.
Due to the election being held under sensitive conditions, with increased polling stations, remote geography, and diverse political activity, security challenges have been assessed as significant. Security personnel have been deployed according to classifications of highly sensitive, sensitive, and normal polling centers. Resources are being maximized, including foot patrols in difficult-to-access areas.
According to Police spokesperson Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Abinarayan Kafle, coordination in provinces and special areas is managed through AIG-level command structures, while districts operate integrated security mechanisms led by SSPs and SPs. Security experts note that the current leadership has revitalized morale and strengthened organizational cohesion after setbacks following the Gen Z movement.
Tribhuvan University Associate Professor Umeshchandra Rizal stated that focusing on election security amid adverse political conditions and psychological pressures is a positive signal. Senior advocate Shiva Gaudel highlighted that the police organization has continued to grow stronger despite past challenges.
The Police Headquarters has prioritized a technology-friendly security plan, strengthened information-gathering systems, and rapid response to emergencies. Senior officials are directly deployed nationwide, maintaining high morale and clear strategy. According to security authorities, the Nepal Police is firmly committed to protecting democratic processes and safeguarding the public.
