“Give Us Five Years to Run the Country” – Gagan Thapa

Gagan Thapa, a senior leader of the Nepali Congress, has urged the people of Banke to give the party a five-year mandate to govern the country.

Addressing an election rally in Janaki Rural Municipality–3 of Banke, Thapa said the country now needs to move forward through effective action and requested voters to provide Congress with the opportunity to lead. “For good governance, Congress must work in an extraordinary manner over the next five years,” he stated.

Thapa referred to the constitution promulgated under former party president Sushil Koirala as a roadmap, saying the party would “drive the vehicle forward at speed” along that path. He expressed commitment to correcting weaknesses seen over the past seven years and steering the country toward stability and development.

He further claimed that Congress would not only work at a fast pace but also provide a “guarantee” against instability and setbacks. Thapa added that corruption cases dating back to 1990 (B.S. 2046) would be investigated and past mistakes rectified.

He also asserted that the party remains united and free of internal divisions.
