KP Sharma Oli Secures Clear Majority in UML’s 11th General Convention

Kathmandu, — KP Sharma Oli has been elected as the chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML) with a decisive majority in the party’s 11th General Convention. Oli secured 1,663 votes in the contest, while his main rival, Ishwar Pokhrel, received only 564 votes, reaffirming Oli’s dominance within the party leadership.
In the race for the post of General Secretary, Oli’s panel candidate Shankar Pokhrel emerged victorious, receiving 1,228 votes against 999 votes for his competitor, Surendra Pandey.
With both the chairman and general secretary positions now held by members of Oli’s panel, the results consolidate the panel’s influence over key party decisions and ensure a unified approach to party policies and implementation going forward.
