Faulty contract mars economy, employment: Minister Ghising

Lalitpur, – Minister for Physical Infrastructures and Transport, Kulman Ghising, has said faulty contract has ruined economy and employment. Minister Ghising said it during a programme organized by Nepal Infrastructures Journalists’ Society here today.
He argued that contractors were flouting the rules government set for the construction works, causing sheer loss to country. “Proper management of contract is imperative to improve national economy,” he said, adding that Nepal’s laws do not allow any construction work without contract.
There is also a problem in the government side- delaying payment for long. “Rather than investment summit, we can hold contractors’ summit to improve construction atmosphere,” he suggested.
An infrastructure expert and former secretary, Arjun Jung Thapa, made a presentation on government policy on termination of contract and its impact.
