General election date set for March 5, 2026

President Ramchandra Paudel has set the election date for the House of Representatives for March 5, 2026.
On the recommendation of Prime Minister Sushila Karki, President Poudel dissolved the current House of Representatives and set a new election date for March 5, next year, according to a statement issued by Sheetal Niwas.
Former Chief Justice Karki was appointed the Prime Minister on Friday, with the backing of the Gen Z uprising.
She has been mandated to hold general elections within six months.
