Fencing Ordered to Protect Vacated Land in Thapathali

Acting Mayor Sunita Dangol of Kathmandu Metropolitan City has directed authorities to fence off public land cleared after the removal of squatter settlements.
Following an inspection of the Thapathali area along the Bagmati River, she instructed officials to coordinate with relevant agencies and begin fencing work to protect the land.
According to the metropolitan office, 143 makeshift houses built through encroachment were removed from the area on Saturday.
As a result, 115 individuals from 34 displaced families have been temporarily sheltered at Radhaswami Satsang Bhawan.
Police stated that more than 1,000 such structures have been demolished across four different locations in the Kathmandu Valley.
The metropolitan office has said it will now enforce strict monitoring and protection measures to prevent further encroachment on the cleared public land.
