U.S. Special Envoy Sergio Gor arrives in Nepal

Sergio Gor, the U.S. Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, arrived in Kathmandu on Thursday evening for an official visit.

According to the Embassy of the United States in Nepal, during his visit he will meet with senior officials of the Government of Nepal as well as leaders from the business community.

Gor, who also serves as the U.S. Ambassador to India, is considered close to Donald Trump. Prior to this, Sameer Paul Kapur had also visited Nepal, and Gor’s visit immediately afterward is being viewed as significant.

On Chaitra 10, Gor had a telephone conversation with Rabi Lamichhane, chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party. During the call, he congratulated Lamichhane on the party’s electoral success and discussed Nepal–U.S. diplomatic relations and future cooperation.

Sharing details of the conversation, the U.S. Embassy stated that the United States looks forward to working with Nepal’s new government to strengthen economic partnership and deepen the friendship between the two countries.
