PM Shah Receives Invitation for Official Visit to India

Narendra Modi has extended an official invitation to Prime Minister Balendra Shah for a visit to India.

According to Shishir Khanal, after the election, Prime Minister Modi called and congratulated Shah, during which he also proposed the visit. Shah has already accepted the invitation.

However, the date of the visit has not yet been finalized. Discussions regarding bilateral relations and the possible visit were also held during a meeting with S. Jaishankar.

It has been stated that since the government is newly formed, Nepal is currently prioritizing internal matters, after which high-level visits will proceed. Around 40 bilateral mechanisms are expected to be used to further strengthen Nepal–India relations.

Minister Khanal clarified that Nepal’s foreign policy will remain consistent, emphasizing national interest, economic development, and non-alignment as guiding principles.
