Weekend Holiday Introduced, New Banking Hours Implemented

Nepal Rastra Bank has announced a new arrangement regarding holidays and office hours for banks and financial institutions.
According to the government’s decision, both Saturday and Sunday will now be public holidays. This new rule will come into effect from Chaitra 23, 2082.
As per the new schedule, offices will remain open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. However, banking services for the general public will be available from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
During the winter season (from Kartik 16 to Magh 15), office hours will be from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, while banking services will be limited from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
The government has implemented this new timing system with the goal of reducing fuel consumption.
