Singer Samikshya Adhikari Speaks Out in Support of Sexual Assault Victims

Following the arrest of artist Sagar Lamsal on rape charges, singer Samikshya Adhikari has publicly expressed her support for the victim. Drawing from her own past experiences, she emphasized standing with survivors and condemned victim-blaming.
On social media, Adhikari recalled the difficulties she faced growing up and how society made it nearly impossible for her to live freely after a traumatic incident. She wrote that while she has moved forward in life, memories of those dark days still bring her pain. Despite the hardships, she said her inner strength kept her going, and she firmly believed that one day society would understand her.
Adhikari also criticized societal attitudes that question victims, asking, “Why did you speak late? Why didn’t you file a complaint earlier?” She said such judgments exacerbate the suffering of survivors. She urged people to empathize with victims by imagining their own daughters or sisters in similar situations.
Regarding the ongoing case of Sangam Bisht, she called for a fair trial and for the guilty to face the strictest punishment, emphasizing that no one’s emotions should be toyed with.
