Election Commission Reports Proportional Votes; Work Underway to Certify MPs

The Shram Sanskriti Party received 290,611 proportional votes in the recent elections, according to the Election Commission.

Other parties’ proportional votes are as follows:

Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP): 4,031,084 votes

Nepali Congress: 1,356,547 votes

CPN-UML: 1,147,407 votes

Nepal Communist Party: 590,368 votes

Election Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai stated that the commission is working to complete vote counting for the proportional system and issue certificates to elected MPs by Chaitra 5 (mid-March).

Once proportional votes are fully counted, the commission will determine the number of MPs each party is entitled to based on the votes they received above the threshold. Political parties will then be asked to submit names of candidates from their closed lists.

After receiving the lists, the commission will verify them against inclusivity and proportional representation requirements. Once approved, the final names of MPs elected under the proportional system will be confirmed and certificates issued.
