Ballot Boxes from 15 Remote Districts to Be Transported by Helicopter

Kathmandu — The Election Commission has arranged for ballot boxes from 15 geographically remote districts to be transported by helicopter.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday evening, Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari said air transport is being used to ensure the quick and secure collection of ballot boxes from remote areas.

According to the Commission, ballot boxes from Taplejung, Rasuwa, Dolakha, Bajhang, and Eastern Rukum are expected to be transported to the respective vote counting centers by helicopter on Thursday itself.

Similarly, ballot boxes from other remote districts including Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Gorkha, Western Rukum, Manang, Bajura, and Humla are expected to reach their respective locations by Friday morning, Bhandari said.

The Commission stated that the vote counting process will begin immediately after the ballot boxes are collected from areas with limited road access and difficult geography.

Bhandari added that once the voting process ends and the ballot boxes are securely collected, vote counting will begin immediately in accordance with Directive 2082.
