Man Arrested for Distributing Money to Voters in Dhanusha

A man has been arrested for allegedly distributing cash to voters in Dhanusha Constituency No. 4. On Tuesday night, police took independent candidate Rajkishor Mahara into custody from Chandrapur, Kshireswarnath Municipality–4.
According to DSP Ganesh Bahadur Bam, spokesperson for the Dhanusha District Police, Mahara was caught around midnight with NPR 48,500 in cash and a diary documenting the transactions. The arrest was made based on a tip-off by a team dispatched from Ilam Police Office, Mahendranagar.
Mahara has been handed over to the Dhanusha District Election Office for further action.
In the same constituency, Raghubir Mahaseth, Vice General Secretary of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML), is also contesting the election. Locals reported that Mahara had been attending Mahaseth’s campaign events and asking voters to support him.
