CPN-UML Registers Candidacy in All 165 Constituencies for House of Representatives Election

Kathmandu — The Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) has registered candidates in all 165 constituencies for the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21. According to Meen Bahadur Shahi, Chief of the Central Publicity Department, the party has not entered into any electoral alliance for this election.
Shahi stated that party Chairperson KP Sharma Oli, along with senior leaders, candidates, party cadres, and supporters, participated enthusiastically in rallies before reaching election offices to register their nominations. Chairperson Oli himself filed his candidacy from Jhapa Constituency No. 5 at 1:00 pm.
The UML has claimed that a significant number of its candidates are new faces. According to the party, 54.54 percent of the total candidates fielded nationwide are first-time contestants. Region-wise, 50 percent of the candidates in both Madhesh and Sudurpaschim provinces are new, while Koshi Province has 53.57 percent new candidates.
Karnali Province has the highest proportion of new candidates at 75 percent, whereas Lumbini Province has the lowest at 42.30 percent. In Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, the share of new candidates stands at 60.60 percent and 61.11 percent respectively.
The party has described this election as a decisive moment to revive lost and broken dreams, ensure a secure and prosperous future for the new generation, and seek a public mandate in favor of the constitution and democracy, and against regression.
