KP Sharma Oli’s message on Buddha Jayanti

KP Sharma Oli, Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist), has said that on this very day around 2,650 years ago, human history witnessed the light of compassion.

Extending his wishes on the occasion of Buddha Jayanti, he stated that Siddhartha Gautama, the pioneer of peace, was born on this day, attained enlightenment, and was received by human civilization as Gautama Buddha.

“About 2,650 years ago, on this sacred day, human history saw the light of compassion. Siddhartha Gautama, the messenger of peace, was born. On this very day, he attained enlightenment, and humanity received Gautama Buddha,” Oli said in a message shared on social media.

He also noted that about 2,570 years ago, on the same day, Buddha attained Mahaparinirvana. On this auspicious occasion marking Buddha’s birth, enlightenment, and passing, Oli expressed his wishes for peace, tolerance, and friendship within the country and among all nations of the world.

He conveyed that this day carries an eternal message guiding humanity toward truth, non-violence, compassion, and peace, and extended heartfelt greetings to all.

Oli also wished that the light of compassion may illuminate everyone’s inner self on this occasion.
