Kathmandu Nepal received NPR 183 billion in remittances in the month of Mangsir alone, bringing the total remittance inflow for the fiscal year 2082/83 to NPR 870.31 billion by the end of Mangsir.

According to the current economic and financial situation report by the Nepal Rastra Bank, remittances have grown steadily this fiscal year. The five-month remittance inflow shows a 35.6% increase compared to the same period last year, when growth was only 4.7%.

Specifically, remittances in Mangsir 2082 reached NPR 18.318 billion, up from NPR 11.879 billion in the same month last year.

Measured in U.S. dollars, remittance inflows increased by 29.0%, reaching USD 616 million over five months, compared to a modest 3.4% growth in the previous year.

The report also highlights that 175,591 Nepalese obtained new labor approvals for foreign employment, while 163,924 received renewals during the same period. Last year, these numbers were 190,384 and 135,425, respectively.

This steady growth reflects the continued importance of remittances in supporting Nepal’s economy and household incomes.
