Election Commission Appoints Officers for National Assembly Polls

Kathmandu, The Election Commission has set up offices of Election Officers in all seven provinces and appointed officials to oversee the upcoming National Assembly member elections scheduled for January 25, 2026.

The commission’s spokesperson, Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, informed RSS that district judges have been appointed as election officers for each province. The appointments are as follows: Bhimraj Prasai in Koshi Province, Shubhanath Puri in Madhesh Province, Geeta Shrestha in Bagmati Province, Himal Belbase in Gandaki Province, Prakashraj Pandit in Lumbini Province, Deepak Dhakal in Karnali Province, and Bhuvan Singh Thapa in Sudurpaschim Province.

The election will fill 19 vacant National Assembly seats that are set to fall vacant on March 4.

According to the election schedule:

Publication of the voter list will take place from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on January 3. Objections and complaints will be addressed before the final voter list is published from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm on January 6.

Candidate nominations will be accepted from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on January 7. Complaints regarding candidates can be filed on January 8 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Candidates can withdraw their names between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm on January 11, with the final list of candidates published from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm the same day.

Election symbols will be allocated on January 12 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Voting at the relevant polling centers will be conducted from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on January 25.

The Election Commission has urged all stakeholders to cooperate fully to ensure a smooth and transparent election process.
