Weather Update: Monsoon Winds Weakening, Westerly Influence Continues

Kathmandu, Oct 7 – The effect of monsoon winds across the country is gradually weakening, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology. However, westerly winds are still influencing several areas of the western regions, including Sudurpaschim, Karnali, Lumbini, and parts of Gandaki Province.
In its latest weather bulletin, the Meteorological Forecasting Division said cloudy conditions are expected in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as other hilly areas, while the remaining Tarai regions will see partly cloudy skies.
The Division has predicted a chance of moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in the hilly and Tarai regions of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, with light showers possible in some hilly areas of other provinces and isolated places in the remaining Tarai regions.
For tonight, the forecast indicates generally overcast skies in Koshi, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, along with other hilly regions. The rest of the Tarai areas are likely to remain partly cloudy.
The Department has also cautioned that moderate rain with thunder and lightning may occur in some hilly areas of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as in parts of Koshi Province and one or two spots in the remaining Tarai regions.
