Ballot Printing Completed in 44 Districts for Upcoming House of Representatives Election

The Election Commission has completed the printing of ballot papers for 100 constituencies across 44 districts for the House of Representatives election scheduled to be held on Falgun 21. The ballot printing is being carried out at the Janak Education Materials Center in Bhaktapur. According to the Commission’s Assistant Spokesperson Kul Bahadur GC, a total of 12,256,000 ballot papers had been printed as of Monday.

The Commission stated that ballot printing has been completed in districts including Dolpa, Mugu, Jumla, Kalikot, Humla, Jajarkot, Dailekh, Rukum (West), Salyan, Surkhet, Bajura, Achham, Bajhang, Doti, Dadeldhura, Darchula, Baitadi, Kailali, Kanchanpur, and Panchthar. Similarly, ballot printing has also been completed in Ilam, Terhathum, Bhojpur, Okhaldhunga, Sunsari, Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Khotang, Dhankuta, Baglung, Gulmi, Jhapa, Gorkha, Myagdi, Parbat, Bardaghat–Susta West (Nawalparasi), Morang, Udayapur, and Mustang.

With the addition of Lamjung, Tanahun, Syangja, and Bardiya, ballot printing has now been completed in a total of 44 districts. The Commission also informed that the ballot papers for these districts have already been packed, with 10,759 ballot boxes prepared so far.

Ballot printing for the House of Representatives election began on Poush 22 at Janak Education Materials Center Limited, Sanothimi, under both the proportional representation system and the first-past-the-post system. In the first phase, 1,098,200 sample ballots were printed and dispatched to various districts.

For the proportional representation system, ballot printing started on Poush 26 and was completed on Magh 13, with 20,830,000 ballots printed, packed, verified, and kept ready for transportation. The Commission stated that 20,323,000 ballots are required for the direct (first-past-the-post) election system, the printing of which began on the morning of Magh 16.
