Ballot Printing Underway for House of Representatives Election Scheduled on Falgun 21

Preparations for the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21 are progressing rapidly, with ballot printing currently underway. The Election Commission has stated that the printing of proportional representation (PR) ballots has been completed, while printing for the first-past-the-post (direct) system has already begun.

Ballots are being printed at the Janak Education Materials Centre press. Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari informed that 20.83 million ballots for the proportional representation system have already been printed.

The Election Commission is carrying out the printing process under strict security provided by the Nepal Army. According to the Commission, all ballots are targeted to be delivered to their respective locations by Falgun 5. Once the ballots reach the polling centers, polling officers will be allowed to open the sealed ballots only on the day of voting, as per legal provisions. The Commission has assured that ballot transportation will be conducted with high-level security arrangements.

Bhandari stated that the printing of direct election ballots will be completed within 15 days. He added that the final list of candidates for the direct election system has already been published, while the final list of candidates included in the closed list under the proportional system is scheduled to be published on Magh 20.

The Acting Chief Election Commissioner also expressed confidence that political parties and candidates will fully comply with the election code of conduct throughout the election process.
