Over 1.5 Million Nepalis Travel Abroad in One Year

More than 1.5 million Nepalis went abroad in a single year. In 2025, a total of 1,523,000 Nepalis left Nepal for various countries.
According to Tikaram Dhakal, spokesperson and director at the Department of Immigration, during the same period, 1,313,191 Nepalis returned home from abroad.
Nepalis travel abroad for work, study, tourism, and business. Although the number of people traveling abroad decreased during the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been increasing again afterward.
In 2015, over 1 million foreign tourists visited Nepal, while 982,561 foreign visitors left the country during the same year.
