Raswapa’s Proportional Representation List Dominated by Business and Celebrity Figures

Kathmandu- The Rastriya Swatantra Party (Raswapa) has submitted its proportional representation candidate list for the House of Representatives election, which shows a clear dominance of business families, celebrities, and well-known influential personalities.
The 110-member list includes names from the business sector as well as entertainment. Among them are Sachin Dhakal, son of FNCCI President and IME Group Chairperson Chandra Dhakal, and Vidushi Rana, Executive Director of Kiran Shoe Manufacturers.
Notable figures from the entertainment industry also feature prominently, including Miss Nepal 2019 Anushka Shrestha, singer and TV host Asif Shah, human rights activist Mohana Ansari, and popular singers Satyakala Rai and Trishala Gurung.
Even in the Dalit cluster, established and recognized personalities dominate. Among 15 Dalit candidates, dermatologist Rupak Bishwakarma Ghimire holds the first position, followed by renowned artist Prakash Saput. Social activist and physician Ramji Ram, and former Bibeksheel Sajha Party vice-president Prakashchandra Pariyar are also included. In the Dalit Women Cluster, TV host, model, and actress Reema Bishwakarma is recommended in the top position.
The list reflects a strong presence of business, entertainment, and well-known figures, rather than fully meeting the constitutional goal of representing underprivileged and marginalized communities. Former cricket captain Gyanendra Malla is also included in the list.
