contempt Case Filed Against PM Karki Over Ambassador Recall Dispute

Kathmandu, A contempt of court case has been filed against Prime Minister Sushila Karki for opposing the Supreme Court’s interim order directing the government to withdraw its decision to recall Nepali ambassadors from foreign countries. The case was registered by Advocate Prem Silwal.

The Supreme Court has scheduled the hearing for November 24, according to spokesperson Arjun Prasad Koirala. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also been named as a defendant in the case.

The dispute stems from a Cabinet decision on September 16 to recall 11 Nepali ambassadors posted in China, Israel, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Spain. Most of the ambassadors had been appointed during the KP Sharma Oli administration.

Currently, the recalled ambassadors are being managed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where they continue to record their attendance.
