Registration of 17 Doctors Cancelled After Acquiring Foreign Citizenship

The Nepal Medical Council has cancelled the registration of 17 doctors.The decision was taken after it was confirmed that they had renounced Nepali citizenship and obtained foreign citizenship and passports.
According to the council, the registrations were revoked in accordance with the Nepal Medical Council Act 2020, its regulations, and the Nepal Citizenship Act 2063, and the decision has come into immediate effect.
The doctors whose registrations were cancelled were found to have acquired citizenship of countries including the United Kingdom, United States, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Portugal, and India.
Under existing legal provisions, doctors registered as Nepali citizens automatically lose the validity of their registration after acquiring foreign citizenship.
