Jhapa District Bans Asking Voters About Their Choice

The District Administration Office of Jhapa has decided that voters cannot be asked “which candidate or election symbol you will vote for.” The announcement was made by Assistant Chief District Officer and Election Code Monitoring Officers Anjan Nyaupane and Tej Prakash Prasai, stating that some social media platforms and online media have been asking voters such questions, thereby violating voter privacy.
The statement noted, “Such actions are considered a violation under Section 4(d) of the Election Code, 2082. After this notice, if anyone is found conducting such activities, legal action will be taken according to the prevailing laws.”
This decision aims to protect voter privacy and ensure the fairness and integrity of the election process.
