Powerful Blast in Central Kabul Kills at Least 7

At least seven people were killed in a powerful explosion that occurred Monday afternoon in central Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. According to the humanitarian organization Emergency, seven of the twenty people brought to hospitals were declared dead.

Dazen Panik, the national director for Afghanistan at Emergency, reported that among the injured were four women and one child. He added that many of the wounded sustained severe injuries, and some are currently undergoing surgery.

Abdul Matin Kani, spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, confirmed that the explosion took place at a restaurant in Kabul and said a detailed investigation is underway. No group has claimed responsibility for the blast so far.
