Deuba Clarifies No Meeting with Newly Appointed Congress President

Kathmandu — Former Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has clarified that he has not met with the newly appointed party president Gagan Thapa. This statement comes amid rumors that Thapa and Vice President Bishwprakash Sharma had held a meeting with Deuba.
Deuba’s private secretariat confirmed that the news circulating in some media outlets is inaccurate. Private Secretary Bhanu Deuba stated, “Some media reported that former ministers Gagan Kumar Thapa and Bishwprakash Sharma met with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba. However, we would like to clarify that no such meeting has taken place recently.”
The new central committee, including Gagan Thapa, was elected during Congress’s second general convention. While Deuba’s faction has not recognized this new committee, the Election Commission recently officially endorsed the committee led by Thapa as the legitimate party body.
Deuba’s faction has challenged the Election Commission’s decision in the Supreme Court, citing what they consider an unjust ruling.
