KP Sharma Oli Comments on Public Figures, Praises Young Volunteers at UML Event

Kathmandu, — UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli made remarks targeting Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Shah while addressing volunteers at a program in Kathmandu on Thursday, held to thank those who contributed to the party’s 11th General Convention.
Oli noted that some well-known public figures are often found under the influence of substances, a behavior that has attracted public attention. In contrast, he praised UML-affiliated youths for their discipline and conduct, saying they neither misunderstood tasks nor engaged in improper behavior.
“Today, young people in the country face challenges in understanding instructions, behaving appropriately, and presenting themselves properly. Yet, our youths have set an exemplary standard,” Oli said. “Some well-known figures are found intoxicated, even those who are often in the news. But we did not see such behavior among our youths. If anyone indulges in misconduct, I would be very happy if they correct themselves. Anyone violating volunteer rules would face action, but no such case occurred, and no one requested votes improperly.”
He also urged party workers to remain united in protecting the nation’s sovereignty and to continue advancing with dedication.
